projects The Grand Bouet redevelopment

Originally known as The Bouet, Le Clouet forms both the latest and largest residential re-development project for the Guernsey Housing Association, a not for profit organisation set up to provide social housing units for the States of Guernsey. The site located to the edge of St. Peter Port comprised 54 dwellings constructed in the 1970’s which were originally only designed to last 20 years. Having exceeded their original design life the original buildings were in desperate need of replacement with modern housing designed to current standards.

The proposed development consists of 55 units, comprising a mix of one and two bedroom flats in two and three storey buildings. The two storey units are each provided with their own separate entrance areas specifically designed for bike storage, and refuse/ recycling, etc.

Each unit has been designed to both exceed the current Building Regulations and follow the guidance given in the “Code for Sustainable Homes” by incorporating high levels of insulation, air tight construction, solar panels and heat recovery ventilation to maintain low running costs.

The units have also been designed to comply with Lifetime Home and Secure by Design principles. Careful consideration has been given to both the hard and soft landscaping which incorporates a dedicated centralised green space, sensory garden and individual amenity spaces for the residents. In addition a purpose built meeting room at the heart of the development has been designed for social gatherings and community functions.
