projects Guille Allès Library
The Trustees of the Guille Allès Library have modernised the service they offer to the public. They hope that the revamp will attract more users of the service and make the library a more open and welcoming building to visit. Three new digital self-service book scanning machines have been installed in the ground floor library lobby; however, as part of the process the Trustees and Library management team recognised that the lobby was in need of a face lift. In the early 1980’s a timber and glazed lobby screen was installed quite rightly this is seen as a physical barrier in attracting new users and visitors to the building.
In consideration of the above Create has designed a lightweight glass box to replace the outdated screen by installing glass doors, brighter, lighter colours to the walls and introducing modern lighting to illuminate and make the most of the existing listed traditional Victorian features, which include an encaustic floor. Works are complete and there has already been much positive feedback from the public.
